Lewis-Hughes to captain Cardiff Blues Premiership Select in Doncaster

8th December 2017

Shane Lewis-Hughes will captain Cardiff Blues Premiership Select on Saturday, as they travel to take on Doncaster Knights in the British and Irish Cup (KO 2.30pm)

The blindside flanker is one of 11 Cardiff Blues academy members who feature in the matchday squad, as Justin Burnell's side look to pick up their first win of the campaign following encouraging outings against Bristol and Leinster 'A'.

Corey Howells, who recently made the switch to the Welsh capital from Newport, lines up on the wing alongside Cardiff RFC's Patric Lewis and James Beal.

Harri Millard and Max Llewellyn, who made his senior Cardiff Blues debut in the Anglo-Welsh Cup recently, combine in midfield, while the Wales Under-20 combination of Dane Blacker and Ben Jones link up at half-back.

Captian Lewis-Hughes is joined by Sion Edwards and Gareth Jones in the back row, while Josh Hawkins partners Ben Murphy in the second row.

Rhys Carre, Joe Page and Joe Rees complete the starting XV in the front row.

Ben Thomas, Dafydd Smith and Alun Lawrence are amongst those included on the bench for the Castle Park clash.
