Lewis-Hughes called into Wales squad for autumn campaign following injuries

International | 2nd November 2021

Cardiff’s Shane Lewis-Hughes has been called into the Wales squad for the autumn campaign.

The 24-year-old links up with Wayne Pivac’s squad after fellow back row, Ross Moriarty, suffered a shoulder injury in the opening match against New Zealand on Saturday.

Academy product Lewis-Hughes made his international debut in October 2020 and has gone on to win three caps in the red jersey.

The back row, who recently returned from a shoulder injury, becomes the 11th Blue and Blacks star to be included in the squad for the autumn campaign, after hooker Kirby Myhill was called up in similar fashion last week.

Skipper Alun Wyn Jones has also been ruled out of the remainder of the campaign and is replaced by uncapped Ospreys team-mate Rhys Davies. Bath forward, Taulupe Faletau, also withdraws after suffering an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, centre Willis Halaholo is set to return to camp on Friday following his 10-day isolation period, after testing positive for Covid.
