Kick-off changes for Leinster and Ospreys URC matches

Two Cardiff Rugby fixtures in the BKT United Rugby Championship have been brought forward to 19:00 kick-offs following supporter feedback.

The Arms Park encounters against Leinster on Friday, February 27, and Ospreys on Friday, April 24, were both originally scheduled to kick-off at 19:45.

However, the club have worked closely with the URC and host broadcaster S4C, and the fixtures have now been brought forward by 45 minutes to the earlier time of 19:00.

The club have been proactively working with the URC to explore opportunities to alter kick-off times since the announcement of the 2025-26 fixtures last summer.

Both Cardiff Rugby and the URC are acutely aware of supporter dissatisfaction with the number of late kick-offs and the lack of allocated preferred kick-off times.

A number of other fixture alterations were explored throughout the current season but were not feasible due to opposition travel arrangements and broadcaster limitations.

Cardiff Rugby interim managing director, Jamie Muir, said: “We are very grateful to the URC and S4C for working with us to make this small change for the Leinster and Ospreys games.

“Our preference every year is to have a balanced split between Friday nights and Saturday afternoon kick-offs and we were disappointed to only have Boxing Day as an afternoon kick-off at the Arms Park.

“We shared the vast supporter feedback we received at the start of the season and reiterated our preferences and have been very grateful to the URC for their willingness to explore changes.

“Unfortunately, we have been unable to deliver a number of changes we looked at, despite the best efforts of the URC, but hopefully bringing Leinster and Ospreys forward by 45 minutes helps supporter travel and makes another two fixtures a little more accessible to young supporters and community groups.”

The club can also confirm that Cardiff RFC’s Super Rygbi Cymru clash with Ebbw Vale has been rescheduled and will now take place on Saturday, January 24, in a double-header with Cardiff Rugby.
