Following an internal review of spectator safety and discussions with Cardiff County Councils Safety Advisory Group, the Cardiff Blues have decided that spectators will no longer be permitted to enter the field of play at the end of matches at the Arms Park.
Robert Norster, the Cardiff Blues chief executive, said: The issue of pitch incursion has been raised at many other grounds over the past few years and we have monitored the changes that have been made.
We have also, through our own internal safety reporting procedures, looked carefully at the implications at Cardiff Arms Park ad sought advice from the council.
The sight of the next generation of players congratulating their heroes as they leave the pitch is one that will be missed.
However, we have a duty of care to spectators, players and officials to ensure their safety at all times.
I have been impressed with how the pitch was kept free at venues we have visited, most recently the Causeway Stadium two weeks ago.
