Juniors ready for Sunday's Redrow Homes Blues Cup final

8th May 2014

Six teams challenge for Redrow Homes Blues Cup final at Arms Park this Sunday.

A competition that began back in October with over 80 teams taking part will all come to a close Sunday as teams through three age groups; U12 U13 U14 will battle it out to become Blues Cup Champions for 2014.

The competition has made significant gains in profile since its introducing in 2009 and it has become the flagship competition for the all junior Clubs within the Region.

The one notable change this year will be the new pitch and for once we can safely say that the games will be going ahead without one eye on the weather.

Alongside the three finals there will be U8 tag games plus some ‘stay and play’ rugby skill activities to try throughout the day.

The first match will see the youngsters of Penarth and Abercwmboi under 12s face each other in the final of the Redrow Homes Blues Cup on Sunday at 10:30am. Penarth beat local rivals Cowbridge while Abercwmboi secured a win over their neighbours Abercynon to reach the final. This is sure to be a big day for Abercwmboi youngsters as Sunday sees them play in their first final.

The under 13s final kicks off at 12.30pm with last year’s Under 12 winners, Pontypridd take on CRICC. The semi- final saw Pontypridd beat Cowbridge, while CRICC beat Penarth.

The final match of the day will see Cowbridge take on Ystrad Rhondda in the Under 14s. To secure their place at the final Cowbridge under 14s beat St Peters and Ystrad Rhondda beat Abercynon.

All Supporters are welcome to come along and support the Blues Junior Clubs.
