I love playing against the English sides - Teddy Williams

First Team News | 11th January 2024

Harlequins Preview | Teddy Williams is relishing the opportunity to face English opposition again when Cardiff face Harlequins on Saturday in the Investec Champions Cup.

The second row has enjoyed 'good experiences' playing against English teams in the past, and with the Cardiff Arms Park sold out for the second successive match, he is anticipating another fantastic occasion.

“I love playing against the English sides and I've had really good experiences against them," said Williams.

"They're always a good challenge and it gets a lot of interest from the fans.

"I've really enjoyed the last few games, to be fair. That's probably been a mixture of the occasions themselves but also how we've been playing as a team. I've really enjoyed the games."

The 23-year-old has been in fine form this season and has become a mainstay in Matt Sherratt's second row.

His consistent performances have mirrored those of the team who have earnt points from every fixture this year, bar one against Toulouse, but have won only three games so far this season.

Despite the small margin of their defeats, Williams acknowledges that Cardiff must begin to turn the narrow losses into victories.

“We're performing to a certain level quite consistently," added Williams.

"Now, that hasn’t been good enough to get as many wins as we have liked, but that level of consistency has been there by and large.

"It's just about taking that next step. In the long term, we've got to start winning these games.

"No one wants to be close losers every week. I think we probably surprised a few people with our performances, but we've got to win some games."
