More than £20,000 was raised for Cardiff Rugby Community Foundation on the eve of Wales’ Guinness Six Nations opener against Ireland.

Hundreds packed into the Arms Park marquee for the annual event to preview the world’s oldest international Championship.

Former Cardiff favourite Nicky Robinson hosted the event and he was joined on stage by former Ireland and Lions star Rob Henderson, Cardiff, Wales and Lions legend Jamie Roberts and Wales ace Gareth Anscombe, who is currently sidelined.

Guests were also treated to entertainment from comedian and Radio Wales stalwart Owen Money and live music from The Black Velvet Duo.

Community Foundation chair, Richard Holland said: “Our Six Nations lunch, or in this case dinner, is always a highlight of the calendar and we are very grateful to everyone who attended to support a great cause.

“We had a great panel previewing the game and they were supplemented by some brilliant insight by the likes of Sir Gareth Edwards and Tom Shanklin, who were also in the room.

“To raise so much money for the Foundation was fantastic and it will make an enormous impact on the work they do to provide opportunities for everyone to play rugby.

“Through their mission statement of inspiring , engaging and improving opportunities for all, they are changing lives throughout our region on a daily basis and we are determined to keep doing that and building on our progress.

“My sincere thanks goes to everyone who attended and everyone in played a part in putting on a fantastic day.”
