The WRU National League Five South East have a long a proud history with the first Rugby Football match played on the Common at Dinas Powis, in 1882. It is said that a group of young farm workers challenged a group of players at the new Gwalia Brickworks and thus history was made

1906 saw the introduction of the Club Jackdaw – some say it was chosen because a pair of Jackdaws used to perch on one of the crossbars before a game. This was thought to be a lucky omen.

The club recently held a reunion dinner at the Millennium stadium to celebrate their 125th year, and it was attended by Roger Lewis, WRU Chief Executive and Warren Gatland, in his few days in charge of the Welsh Rugby Side, (he opted to stay with the boys in Red and not cross to the blue and yellow of Dinas).

Dinas have had games against Cardiff & Abervaon so far this season and with a few more Prestige games to come Dinas Powys rfc are looking forward a successful end of season.
