Community team take cage to Active Merthyr

3rd August 2018

Cardiff Blues community coaches were in action once again this week as they supported the Active Merthyr National Play Day at Cyfartha Castle.

As well as running kids camps at Cardiff Arms Park throughout the week, the community team hosted sessions in Merthyr with both the inflatable tackle cage and European Challenge Cup in attendance.

More than 1,000 visitors attended the event at the Active Merthyr Village, many getting their first taste of rugby.

The event was designed to get locals active and to improve attendance at local sports clubs and the recreational provision throughout the borough.

Cardiff Blues Community Manager, Nadine Griffiths said: “This was a fantastic day to be part of with more than 1,000 in attendance and engaging with Cardiff Blues.

“The inflatable cage is always a great way to engage children in lots of fun games and activities, as well as introducing newcomers to the game.

“We were more than happy to support Merthyr Council in this event and we look forward to working closer with them and all five of the unitary authorities within the region.”
