The Arms Park hosted a hugely successful Clubs Day on Sunday as Cardiff Blues fought back to secure a crucial bonus-point victory over Benetton Rugby.
Clubs Day has become a highlight of the community calendar in recent years and this season a celebratory Clubs Lunch was also introduced.
Close to 60 clubs in the Cardiff Blues region attended the special event in the Heineken and Glamorgan Brewing Co marquee.
Representatives were treated to an exhibition from sponsors and partners, a two-course meal, complimentary bar and a Q&A from Cardiff Blues head coach John Mulvihill and star duo Owen Lane and Nick Williams.
In a further addition, Cardiff Blues players on the day also pulled on the socks of their first community club with the likes of Garyn Smith representing Cilfynydd, Dan Fish St Albans and Lloyd Williams wearing one for Cowbridge and one for Glamorgan Wanderers.
More than 20 of the clubs in attendance also brought members of their mini and junior sections, who paraded the pitch at half-time, and were treated to an emphatic second-half comeback from the Blues.
Following the full-time whistle, as youngsters descended onto the pitch, the club representatives were each presented with a signed Cardiff Blues jersey for their club house.
Cardiff Blues Community Foundation Director Nadine Griffiths said: “We always enjoy welcoming clubs to the Arms Park but this was another step in strengthening our ties and it proved a huge success.
“We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback and I must also thank the clubs for their support. They make a huge contribution to rugby in Wales and it was nice to be able to celebrate them.
“We are also very grateful to Spiros, Heineken and Glamorgan Brewing Co for their support also all of the sponsors and suppliers who exhibited their products and services at the event.
“Fortunately, a great afternoon was capped with a second-half comeback and a fantastic win and it was brilliant to see the boys in their club socks and then so many youngsters being inspired.”
