Last Friday Christ the King Primary School, Cardiff, hosted its 9th annual tag rugby tournament
In total six schools took part with their teams being made up of pupils from years 5 and 6.
The emphasis of the tournament was having fun but from the first whistle, all teams played some competitive rugby.
St Joseph’s and St Bernadette’s reached the exciting final. St Bernadette’s won the final to become the tournament champions.
Speaking about the tournament, organiser Peter O’Brien said,
“The tournament has been a great success and the standard of rugby on show was brilliant.”
“We were lucky to have Cardiff Blues Development Officer Joe Davies and Community Coach Owain Poole along to help out by refereeing matches, together with Paul Kinsey – a governor from our school.”
Peter O’Brien added,
“It was great to see so many children enjoying a fantastic afternoon of tag rugby.”
Speaking about the event Cardiff Blues Development Officer Joe Davies said,
“It’s great to see a school being proactive in organising rugby opportunities and we are happy to support the school.”
“The rugby on show was very impressive and my congratulations go out to all that took part, it was a very successful afternoon.”
