Cardiff Rugby under-16 sides name line-ups for Wednesday action

Pathway | 20th April 2022

Cardiff Rugby’s unbeaten under-16 sides are back in action this evening for the third round of their Regional Age Grade Championship campaigns.

After a double victory in north Wales on the opening weekend, the Blue and Blacks maintained their unbeaten starts last week with Cardiff South claiming a win at Dragons Black and Cardiff North drawing with Scarlets East.

After crossing for a hat-trick in Merthyr last week, Harrison Nixon maintains his place on the Cardiff North wing, but head coach Ian Evans makes a total of eight changes to the starting line-up as they travel to take on Dragons Black.

Tom Bowen and Caden Thomas, who contributed six tries between them against RGC, both return to the backline for the Ystrad Mynach trip, with a new-look half back partnership of Sam Talbot and Josh Pearce also introduced.

Calum Jones slots into the back row, joining Rhys Emmott and Evan Rees while Ollie Rose comes into the second row to link up with Dylan McDonald. The pack is completed by the front row trio of Jayden Meade, Shae Mogford and Sam Scott.

Meanwhile, Cardiff South welcome Ospreys West to the Arms Park for their first home game of the campaign, looking to build on their 34-10 win over Dragons Black last week.

Iestyn Williams has opted to rotate his squad with a total of 12 changes made to the side that won in Ystrad Mynach last week.

Scrum half Sion Davies comes in to captain the side, combining with Dewi Thomas at half back. Blessing Kilonda, who crossed the whitewash last week, and centre Gethin O’Callaghan are the only ones to retain their starting spots in the backline.

The only forward to keep his place in the pack is Jaden Wilkins, who switches from second row to the back row.

Kick off will take place at 7.15pm.
