Cardiff Rugby Community Foundation enjoyed a fantastic week at the Royal Welsh Show, engaging with thousands of visitors and inspiring the next generation of players through a range of rugby activities.

The Foundation was based at the show throughout the week, providing fun activities and delivering coaching sessions in the main ring with community coaches and Cardiff Rugby players.

Alongside the coaching sessions, supporters enjoyed interactive activities at the Cardiff Rugby Community Foundation stand, helping the club engage with visitors from across Wales.

Dan Thomas, Dafydd Hughes, Ben Thomas, Jacob Beetham and Rory Thornton all got involved with the sessions, while Cardiff Rugby icons Josh Navidi and Jason Harries also joined in to surprise youngsters taking part.

Children had the opportunity to test their skills, meet their Blue & Black heroes and collect signed posters, with smiles all round despite the soaring summer temperatures.

Community Foundation Director Bronnie Jones was delighted with the response from families across the week.

“The sessions today have been awesome. We did two sessions in the day with some of our players joining us, lots of kids taking part, lots of fun and games and, considering how hot it is, it’s been spot on.

“We’re proud to represent a region that stretches from Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan all the way up to Powys. Any opportunity we get to be out on the road and engage with our wider community is something we really value.”

For Jacob Beetham, the visit was particularly special, with the winger returning to the showground just minutes from where he grew up in Builth Wells.

Having attended the Royal Welsh Show as a youngster, Beetham hopes this year’s visit can inspire the next generation in the same way previous Cardiff Rugby visits inspired him.

“It’s really nice to be back. I’ve been here with Cardiff the last couple of years now and I always love coming home, so it’s a great excuse to come back.

“I used to come here all the time when I was younger and I still remember when the Cardiff squad came up and did a session here. It definitely inspired me when I was a kid, so if we can inspire any children up here to pick up a rugby ball and get involved in the sport, then that’s brilliant.”

Alongside the coaching sessions, supporters were also introduced to the brand-new Bruiser Membership, giving young Cardiff Rugby fans the opportunity to enjoy exclusive experiences and benefits throughout the 2026/27 season.

Community Foundation Manager Stuart Clark believes events such as the Royal Welsh Show are vital in strengthening the club’s connection with communities across the region.

“It’s been a great day. We’ve had loads of engagement, the players have been with us throughout the day and it’s been non-stop with children getting involved in all the activities.

“We’ve also been able to launch our new Bruiser Membership for junior supporters. It’s designed for children under the age of 12 and offers loads of great incentives and opportunities to get involved with Cardiff Rugby throughout the season.”
