Leigh Halfpenny is set for his Arms Park farewell as Cardiff Rugby take on DHL Stormers in the final round of the BKT United Rugby Championship on Friday night (7:45pm).

The legendary full-back has announced he will retire at the end of the season and he has been named on the replacements bench for the crucial encounter.

Corniel van Zyl has made five changes to the side that lost to league leaders Glasgow Warriors last weekend.

In the front row, Van Zyl has rotated his props with Danny Southworth and Javan Sebastian starting, and Rhys Barratt and Keiron Assiratti moving to the bench.

With Josh McNally unavailable due to RAF duty, George Nott comes back into the number four jersey, partnering Rory Thornton.

In the backs there are two further changes with Ioan Lloyd handed the fly-half jersey after Callum Sheedy suffered a hamstring injury in the final moments at Scotstoun.

Rory Jennings also returns to partner Ben Thomas in the centre after Josh Adams was ruled out.

Van Zyl said: “We’ve been forced to make a few changes but we have named a strong team and we are fully focussed on putting the best version of ourselves on the Arms Park come Friday night.

“It is in our hands and a win would guarantee our place in the play-offs. That would be a great reward for the group and growth we have enjoyed this season but we know it’s a big challenge ahead.

“The Stormers are a top-quality team so we will need to be on top of our game. But we are at the Arms Park, where we have done really well this season and have enjoyed such incredible support.

“It’s going to be a brilliant night in the capital. We will fight for everything in front of our home fans and we are hoping for a big turn out to get behind us.”

The Blue & Blacks are currently seventh in the URC table and their play-off destiny remains in their hands.

A victory over second-placed Stormers would guarantee their place in the play-offs, while anything else will see attention turn to Connacht and Ulster, who also play on Friday night.

With so much on the line, a bumper crowd is expected at the Arms Park and tickets can be purchased by clicking here

Van Zyl has stuck with a five-three split on the bench with Evan Lloyd again covering the back-row. Ellis Bevan and Stef Emanuel, who returns for his first senior involvement since January, provide the back-line cover with Halfpenny.
