Josh McNally captains Cardiff as they make 10 changes for their EPCR Challenge Cup clash against Exeter Chiefs on Sunday (1pm).

The Blue & Blacks travel to Sandy Park with their qualification for the Round of 16 secured following a bonus-point victory over Racing Metro last Saturday.

Just one point separates the two sides in Pool Three and the winner is likely to secure a home draw.

Corniel van Zyl has refreshed his side following their heroics at the Arms Park and McNally is one of six changes to the pack.

He partners Rory Thornton in the second-row, while Dan Thomas and James Botham come into the back-row with Taine Basham moving to number eight.

In the front-row, it is all change with former Exeter Chief Danny Southworth packing down with Evan Lloyd and Sam Wainwright.

Meanwhile in the backs, Ioan Lloyd has recovered from injury to partner Johan Mulder, at half-back, Rory Jennings pulls on the number 12 jersey and Mason Grady comes into the back three.

Van Zyl said: “To get the win over Racing was good for momentum and the squad’s confidence. We were pleased with the performance and how we got back to what we are good at.

“It’s no secret where Exeter are sitting in the Premiership, so they’ve had a really positive season and turned things around from last year.

“They’ve become a very difficult team to beat, like they used to be, based on few of the basics of the game. They have a really good breakdown, really good set-piece,  really good kicking game, and then obviously they’ve got some really dangerous backs that can score tries.

“So it’s going to be a nice challenge, but 100 per cent something we look forward to. We will put our game on the pitch and see what happens.”

Van Zyl has named a 6-2 split on the replacements bench with Tom Cottle in line for his competitive debut. The second-row who joined the club in the summer was recently named captain of Wales Under-20s.

Ieuan Davies, who is on loan for the season from Bath, is also among the replacements with Ellis Bevan ruled out due to injury, and provides the backline cover with Cam Winnett.

Cardiff Rugby side to take on Exeter Chiefs on Sunday, January 18 (1pm) at Sandy Park:

Jacob Beetham; Mason Grady, Cornel Smit, Rory Jennings, Tom Bowen; Ioan Lloyd, Johan Mulder; Danny Southworth, Evan Lloyd, Sam Wainwright, Josh McNally (capt), Rory Thornton, James Botham, Dan Thomas, Taine Basham.
