Having won their last five matches the Blues will be aiming to make it 6 in the city when they take on another giant of English rugby.
Tickets for the winner takes all mach against Bath this Friday, 7.35pm kick off, are still available by calling the ticket office on 029 2030 2030. The Blues are unbeaten at the Arms Park since Edinburgh won 11-10 in the Magners League on 4 January and the Blues have won their last three games in the EDF Energy Cup.
Speaking ahead of the match, Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby David Young said, Bath Rugby have produced some superb players for both club and country over the years and their current squad is littered with quality players. It is a winner-takes-all match, so obviously there is a lot at stake.
Despite the lashing wind and rain at the Rec, last seasons match saw us score a length of the field last minute winner, which ended Baths impressive year-long undefeated home record. So Im sure they will be looking to reverse that result on Friday.
The Blues have never been beaten at the Arms Park in the competition and have notched up wins in their last five games against English teams, however they will have to be at their best on Friday.
Bath are riding high at the top on the Guinness Premiership and have only lost away once this season in all competitions, a 16-18 defeat in Toulouse in the Heineken Cup on 12 October. Baths last visit to the Arms Park for a competitive match was on 16 November 1996 in the quarter-finals of the European Cup with Cardiff RFC winning 22-19.
Possible EDF Energy Cup Permutations
Should Cardiff Blues avoid defeat they will make it to the semi-finals.
Bath need to beat the Blues and not allow the Blues two bonus points in order to finish above them in the table.
Leicesters faint hope of qualification for the last four would happen only if the Tigers win with a bonus point, Cardiff Blues do not gain a point and Bath win without a bonus point.
In the case of a three way tie on nine points (set up with a 5 point win for Leicester and a 4-1 win for Bath) whoever scores the more tries in the Cardiff Blues v Bath game would progress.
Sale cannot qualify for the last four.
