Following Easter weekend, we resume our Cardiff Blues Ultimate XV with the left wing.
Nicky Robinson was the latest Arms Park legend to get the nod, joining current star Tomos Williams at half-back. Robinson, who enjoyed two stints at the Blues claimed 50 per cent of the public vote.
Now attention turns to the left wing with a blend of home grown talent and the biggest star of the modern era. Make your vote below!
Chris Czekaj (2004-2014 | 143 appearances | 26 tries | 9 caps for Wales)
A product of the Cardiff Blues academy, Chris Czekaj became a fans favourite at the Arms Park. The wing, who admirably bounced back following a broken leg in 2008, enjoyed a long association with his home region before moving to France in 2014. Czekaj won nine caps on the international stage and started on the wing in the Amlin Cup final in 2010.
Tom James (2006-2013, 2015-2019 | 163 appearances | 60 tries | 12 caps for Wales)
With 60 scores to his name, Tom James is the region’s top try scorer, touching down 14 times more than his closest competitor. Former athlete TJ became a fixture on the Cardiff Blues wing, impressing enough to win his first Wales cap against England in 2007. James left to join Exeter Chiefs in 2013, but returned in 2015, continuing his try-scoring form. A try scorer in the EDF Cup final and Heineken Cup semi final defeat to Leicester Tigers, James was also the Magners League top try scorer in 2008.
Jonah Lomu (2005-2006 | 10 appearances | 1 tries | 63 caps for New Zealand)
While only spending a short time at the Welsh capital, legendary wing Jonah Lomu certainly had an impact during his stint with Cardiff Blues. The All Blacks wing was making his comeback following illness and the crowds flocked in to see the great man in action. Despite limited game time, Lomu’s impact and legacy at the Arms Park speaks volume about his character.
Harry Robinson (2010-2014 | 50 appearances | 5 tries | 3 caps for Wales)
Harry Robinson graduated from the Cardiff Blues academy and went on to make 50 appearances for his home region. The jet heeled wing had some eye-catching performances for his region, and was deadly with ball in-hand. His form for Cardiff Blues earned him international honours with Wales, but Robinson, having moved to Scarlets in 2014, was forced to retire early due to injury.
Gareth Thomas (2007-2010 | 60 appearances | 12 tries | 331 points | 100 caps for Wales | 3 caps for British and Irish Lions)
Following a stint with Cardiff earlier in his career, ’Alfie’ returned to the Arms Park in 2007, having won a Grand Slam and a Heineken Cup during his three years with Toulouse. British and Irish Lion Thomas, who became the first player to achieve 100 caps for Wales, featured in the 2009 EDF Cup Final win over Gloucester and in the run-in to the Heineken Cup semi final.
