Cardiff Blues to give £10,000 to Supporters' Club

3rd July 2013

Cardiff Blues have committed to give their Supporters' Club £10,000 if they hit their season ticket target

The Blues enjoy a close working relationship with the Cardiff Blues Supporters’ Club which does a fantastic job in arranging transport to away games as well as holding many successful social and charitable events. The Blues have committed to give £10,000 to the Cardiff Blues Supporters’ Club, fund that will be used to revamp the Jack Matthews Bar in the Heineken Fanzone and contribute to the costs of Supporters’ Club buses to away matches.

The Blues are aiming to hit their target of 3,000 season tickets before the first RaboDirect PRO12 match in early September. A Cardiff Blues season tickets cost from as little as £185 for adults and offers outstanding value, giving access to a minimum of 16 games that include: all RaboDirect PRO12 home games in regular season, all Heineken Cup home pool matches and all home LV= (Anglo-Welsh) Cup pool matches.

Speaking of the scheme Chairperson of the Cardiff Blues Supporters’ Club, Sarah Hopkins, said,

“Watching the Cardiff Blues players perform fantastically for the Lions, Wales and Wales under 20’s over the summer has really whetted the appetite for the forthcoming season at the Arms Park.

“Installing the new pitch is a really positive move and I know all the supporters I’ve spoken to are really looking forward to watching the first match on it against the Sale Sharks in August.

“I think it’s a great initiative from the Blues to donate £10,000 to the Supporters’ Club funds if they hit their target and we will be encouraging all the supporters to renew as well as helping trying to recruit new season ticket holders.

“We held a workshop with our members back at the end of last season and they said that a priority was to improve the facilities for supporters on matchday so we would intend to use the money to update the ‘Dr Jack Matthews’ Bar as well as for transport for Supporters’ Club trips to away matches in the Heineken Cup against Exeter Chiefs and Glasgow Warriors.”

Supporters can purchase or renew their season tickets by visiting or by calling the ticket office on 02920 302030.
