15th January 2013

Present and past stars of the Ospreys and Cardiff Blues will battle it out in a Question of Sport Special in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre's Stepping Stones Appeal, the Ospreys' chosen charity for the 2012/13 season

Adam Jones, Alun Wyn Jones, Ian Gough, Sam Warburton, Martyn Williams and Tom Shanklin will be just some of the team members at this special event which takes place on Thursday 28th February at The Towers Hotel.
Ospreys captain Alun Wyn Jones said: “We’re all looking forward to going head to head with the Blues in this for a great cause. We’ve got Adam Jones in our team and with his record when he appeared on TV in Question of Sport we are confident of securing the win.”

Martyn Williams said 'We know we're up against one of the country’s foremost sporting anorak's in Adam Jones and we will go in as firm underdogs. However, with Tom Shanklin in the team anything is possible!'

Tickets for this event are just £35 each and tables of 10 are available. Price to include a drink on arrival, 3 course dinner, superb entertainment plus a raffle and auction with some fantastic prizes up for grabs.  You can book tickets online at: or call Velindre Fundraising on 029 2031 6211

Velindre Cancer Centre launched the Stepping Stones Appeal, a lung cancer research programme, to both increase awareness of their work, and to raise the money necessary to continue to fund and expand their research programmes.

There are nearly 2,200 people diagnosed with lung cancer in Wales each year, with an increasing number who have never smoked. Many people are surviving cancer than ever before thanks to early detection and better treatment. Although lung cancer is the most common form of cancer death in Wales, lung cancer research has been relatively poorly supported compared to other higher profile forms of cancer. It is estimated by 2015 there will be a 30% increase in the most common forms of cancer in Wales.
