Cardiff Chairman Peter Thomas and Chief Executive Robert Norster today gave a press conference regarding the role of the Cardiff Blues in regional rugby.
They have also issued the following summary;
Proactive involvement in the creation of all discussion documents throughout the evolution of regional rugby
The first region to launch to the public professional, high profile event widely attended by commercial and rugby partners throughout the community
Presentation of plans and buffet supper provided to all regional clubs during the summer
Heads of Terms agreed with Caerphilly RFC to be utilised as a regional training headquarters. Unable to proceed under WRU plans awaiting alternate proposals regarding the Vale of Glamorgan facility
Relaunch of Capital Rugby community initiative in conjunction with the WRU and Unitary Authorities specifically re-engineered to address the linkage of primary and secondary schools to the clubs of the region. Now encompassing over 140 schools in the region
Re-siting of District Development Directors offices to the Arms Park at a reduced rental to ensure closer working relationship
Schedule agreed between the above and Cardiff Blues coaching staff for the following:
Head Coach and support staff to meet with the regions coaches at the Arms Park regional centre on the 15th December
Capital Rugby development officers to meet with all junior coaches pre-Christmas
Post Christmas master classes to be delivered within the region by Blues/Cardiff RFC coaching staff for all WRU identified elite coaching prospects
