Cardiff Blues have launched an exciting new initiative that will benefit clubs and schools in their region

The 2012-2013 Season brings big changes to the Cardiff Blues with a return to Cardiff Arms Park.

The Blues run various community schemes throughout the region with local rugby clubs and schools. In addition to these schemes the Blues will be introducing a new scheme this season.

Cardiff Blues Community Block

An exciting new initiative at the Arms Park is the launch of the Community Block. All rugby club and school tickets purchased through our community scheme will be seated together within our new Community Block in Block 15 of the North Stand at the Arms Park.

The aim is to create a great community atmosphere within this area of the ground, allowing supporters from the same club or school to sit together during matches where they can also receive some great match-day offers from the Blues.

Regional Clubs Scheme

The Regional Clubs scheme has become very popular over the past three seasons giving all clubs within the Cardiff Blues region the opportunity to purchase tickets for their members at a discounted price. To reward our clubs for their support over the past few seasons, the Blues plan to continue a form of the Regional Clubs Scheme at the Arms Park.

Due to the reduced capacity this season, the Blues have had to make alterations to how the scheme will be run. Each rugby club has been grouped together with other clubs within their area of the Cardiff Blues region. Discounted match tickets will then be offered to these individual groups of clubs for specific home matches during the season.

The matches will be allocated to clubs on a season-to-season basis; therefore clubs will be offered tickets for different matches next year.

Each club can purchase 20 tickets for their members at a cost of £100, a discounted price of only £5 per ticket!

The tickets the clubs purchase can be used as prizes within their club or can be sold on to members for any price up to the match day value, which will be printed on the front of the ticket. Any funds raised through these ticket sales can be kept by the clubs.

Of the 20 tickets allocated, 15 will be junior tickets and the remaining 5 will be adult tickets (adult tickets can be used by juniors or adults). Junior tickets are valid for those aged 16 and under.

Regional Clubs Day

The Blues will also be looking to continue their annual Regional Clubs Day event into the new season at Cardiff Arms Park.

The event sees all clubs within the Blues region invited to claim complimentary tickets for their members. Last season saw over 30 clubs attend and take part in parades around the field and races on the pitch!

This season’s Regional Clubs Day will be held on Saturday the 22nd of September at the Cardiff Blues v Treviso match, 6:30pm K.O.

Each club will be able to claim up to 25 complimentary tickets for this match.

Tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis and we recommend clubs register early so as not to miss out as there will be a limited number of tickets available!

Adopt a Player

Last season many clubs took advantage of the opportunity to have a Cardiff Blues player visit twice throughout the season, taking part in training sessions or presentation nights as part of our Adopt a Player Scheme.

The Blues will continue to offer each club the chance to have a visit from a player, though there will be changes to the management of the scheme.

Each club will be allocated a new player for the 2012-2013 Season following from the allocations which have been present for the previous two seasons and precise dates of when Blues players can visit the clubs will be provided to each club.

Rhys and Oliver Barratt of Llantwit Fardre RFC joined former Glantaf pupil Rhys Patchell and former Ysgol Bro Morgannwg pupil Cory Allen for the launch of the Community Block in the Arms Park North Stand.

Speaking at the launch, nine-year-old Rhys Barratt of Maes y Bryn School said,

“I’m a big Blues supporter and I’m looking forward to seeing the game on Friday.”

“My parents have taken me to watch the Blues for a few years now and I really enjoy it.”

“We’ve been to see them both at the Arms Park and the City Stadium but I prefer the Arms Park because there’s more atmosphere because you’re closer to the pitch.”

“I hope I’ll be able to come back a lot more this season with the school and with Lalntwit Fardre.”
