Cardiff Arms Park welcomed more than 4,000 supporters on Sunday as the annual Drag Rugby charity match returned for its biggest event to date.

The unique fixture, organised by Mary’s in partnership with Cardiff Lions RFC, saw the home of Cardiff Rugby host a memorable day of entertainment, with more than £20,000 raised for Dreams & Wishes.

Supporters packed the Arms Park to create a fantastic atmosphere throughout the afternoon, as more than 30 drag queens took to the pitch alongside Cardiff Lions RFC, helping make this year’s event the most successful since its launch in 2018.

Dreams & Wishes, a Welsh charity that supports children with life-limiting illnesses and their families by creating lasting memories, will directly benefit from the funds raised, with the event once again highlighted the power of rugby to bring communities together.

Following the event, Proud Mary thanked everyone who helped make the day such a success, writing on social media:

“We’re truly overwhelmed by the attendance today for Drag Rugby. It’s by far our biggest and best year to date, raising an amazing amount for Dreams & Wishes”.

“We have to thank so many people, including every single drag queen who gave up their free time to participate”.

“Most importantly, to each and every one of you for buying a ticket and coming along. We genuinely hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!”
