Bryant strengthens Blues’ midfield

The Blues have strengthened their midfield options by adding the former Warriors and Wales A centre Jonny Bryant to the squad.

He has been with the Dragons this season but has had limited playing opportunities and has jumped at the opportunity to play for the Blues.

After this morning’s training session at Llanrumney he said, “Being asked to join the Blues has been a real shot in the arm for me and I can’t wait to get into the action. Looking around the squad in training today brought it home to me as to the potential here and I desperately want to be part of it. There’s talent oozing everywhere. It’s been a bit of a barren spell for me at the Dragons and the Blues have some big games coming up in the next few weeks.”

As part of the agreement with the Dragons Bryant will not be able to play for the Blues against them on 27 December but is available for all other upcoming Celtic League games including this weekend’s match against Leinster.

It also appears that he has more connections with the Arms Park than previously realised. He added, “My wife is from Cardiff and my father-in-law has been a Cardiff season ticket holder for many years. And as I’m from Aberdare I reckon Dai Young and myself will get on well.”

Another familiar face to Bryant at this morning’s squad session was Richard Webster who will share forward coaching duties with David Young. In his first interview since joining the coaching team Webster said, “I know a lot of these players from my time with Bridgend and the Warriors and I also know Nathan Thomas from his Bath days. They also know me and what I’ll expect from them. I know we are all going to work together to take things forward. There are a few little things that I concentrate on and there has already been two-way dialogue between me and them. I am looking forward to the rest of the season tremendously.”
