Bowen living his dream at Cardiff

Tom Bowen is “living his dream” following an electric start to the season.

The exciting wing returned to Cardiff in the summer of 2024, after a spell on scholarship at Clifton College.

He burst onto the scene in the second half of the season, scoring two tries in four impressive appearances and he has continued that rich vein of form in the new campaign.

With injuries across the Cardiff back-line, Bowen has been handed early opportunities and he has grabbed them with both hands.

Last week he got the Arms Park crowd on their feet every time he touched the ball and was unfortunate not to get on the scoreboard.

And on Saturday night in Limerick he snatched a second-half hat-trick to rescue two bonus-points for the Blue & Blacks.

04.10.25 – Munster v Cardiff Rugby, United Rugby Championship – Tom Bowen of Cardiff Rugby scores his side’s third try

He said: “I’m chuffed with that on a personal perspective and I think we just have to look at the positives. We’ve got two points coming here to a tough place to come and win.

“There was plenty of fight. Just look at the game there, that’s what kept us in it, that’s what kept the game close.

“So to get two points is massive and could pay off in the latter stages of the season. We just have to look at the positives of getting two points away to Munster.

I just love playing for Cardiff, it’s my home club, my home region – I’m just living my dream really.”

“I’m really enjoying my rugby at the moment. It’s probably the most I’ve ever enjoyed rugby. I just love playing for Cardiff, it’s my home club, my home region – I’m just living my dream really.”

The Aberdare-born flyer has slotted in seamlessly at the Arms Park and one of an exciting new cohort of academy stars, alongside the likes of Steff Emanuel and Elijah Evans, to step up.

Ideal experience at the Arms Park

And he has plenty of good company around him with the likes of Wales and British & Irish Lions Test stars Leigh Halfpenny and Josh Adams, and fellow Rhondda Cynon Valley boys Harri Millard and Cam Winnett on hand to offer experience and advice.

He said: “I can’t ask for any more than the experience (I have around me) and learning from them every day. I feel really lucky to have those guys and be able to go to them every day and pick their brains.”

Next up is a return to the Arms Park, where Cardiff host Connacht on Saturday, October 11.

Connacht saw their fixture against Scarlets called off due to the west Walian’s travel woes during Storm Amy, but kicked off the season with a win over Benetton.

Bowen is relishing a return to home territory and believes it’s an opportunity to right some wrongs.

He added: “We’re looking forward to Connacht massively. We’re back in front of our home fans and we want to put things right as well.

“There’s lots of improvement to make out there and we’re lucky to have another opportunity next week at the Arms Park.”
