Boss wants 'fortress mentality' at home

7th March 2016

Head Coach Danny Wilson has called on his Cardiff Blues to keep the 'fortress mentality' going - as they face a crunch home double-header in the Guinness PRO12 in the coming weeks.

Cardiff Blues welcome Munster Rugby to BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Friday, March 18 (kick-off 7.15pm).

Italians Benetton Treviso will then arrive in the Welsh capital seven days later (kick-off 7.05pm) and Wilson acknowledges both games will go a long way to settling any top six aspirations.

Cardiff Blues have lost just twice at home in the league this season and Wilson is insistent that his players must now improve that record even more in the final months of the campaign if they want to climb the standings.

“We’ve only lost two league games at the Arms Park this season and one of those was recently by a point to Leinster when we felt we should have got more,” he said.

“If we can now get some wins at home - keep that fortress mentality going - then it will give us the opportunity to climb the league.

“We had a lot of difficult games away from home at the start of the season. Now we have a run at home and we have to make that count.”
