Blues Team To Face Scarlets

15th October 2003

The Blues team to play the Scarlets at Stradey Park on Saturday (kick-off 2.30pm) shows seven changes, two of them positional, from the team that beat Leinster Lions last week.

Into the starting line-up come Lee Abdul on the wing, Andrew Moore at scrum-half, Craig Quinnell in the second row and Gareth Williams and John Yapp in the front row. Craig Morgan moves from wing to full back and Jim Brownrigg reverts to number 6.

Coach David Young said,

“Once again injuries have influenced our selection. Donavan van Vuuren is unavailable because of a hip injury and Ryan Powell has an ankle problem, though we still need him on the replacements’ bench. Andrew Lewis has led the side in all seven games so far so he is having a well-earned rest. Craig Quinnell is back in the picture having completed his six weeks’ suspension.”

Lock Andy Moore will lead the side for the first time while Gareth Williams will be making his first start in Blues’ colours.
