Cardiff Blues can today confirm that the region will face local rivals Newport Gwent Dragons in a home pre-season derby day friendly on Saturday, August 29 (kick-off 2.30pm).
Danny Wilson’s men will host the Dragons at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park as the countdown to the new Guinness PRO12 season gathers pace.
The fixture will give the new-look coaching team at Cardiff Blues the last chance to see the squad in action after an intensive pre-season period.
Cardiff Blues – who will be in action for the first time at the Singha Premiership Rugby 7s Series at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday, August 15 – are also set to announce an away fixture in pre-season in due course.
