Blues launch first coaching clinic of the season

Cardiff Blues held their first coaching clinic of the season at their training centre in The Vale Resort, Hensol last night.

The session was specifically aimed at first team coaches who coach in the Premiership, Championship, Regional Age Grade or Division One teams within the region.

The session was organised by WRU/Blues Coach Development Officer Jon Evans, and delivered by Gareth Baber the Cardiff Blues backs and attach coach and Lee Jarvis the Blues skills coach. The theme of the evening was “Pace Position Pass” this was conveyed through the topics of handling, passing and decision making.

The Blues under 18’s were put through their paces by both coaches in what was an educational evening for the 45 coaches from around the region who attended.

Speaking of the event Jon Evans, WRU Coach Development Officer Blues Region said,

“This was a fantastic insight into how a run a session with high intensity, while still being able to get all your key coaching points across. It also emphasised how important the use of conditioned games are to the development of the players.”
