Anscombe recalled to number 10 jersey for crunch England clash

21st February 2019

Gareth Anscombe has been handed the number 10 jersey for Wales' crunch Guinness Six Nations clash against England on Saturday.

Both sides head to the Prinicipality Stadium looking to maintain their bid for a Grand Slam, having secured victories in the opening two rounds of the Championship.

Following a 15-26 victory over Italy, outside half Anscombe is recalled into the starting line-up to face Eddie Jones’ men, as Warren Gatland makes eleven changes from the side at Stadio Olimpico.

Josh Navidi, who was named man-of-the-match in Rome, retains his spot in the back row, and is reunited with Justin Tipuric and Ross Moriarty.

Scrum half Tomos Williams has been ruled out of the Cardiff encounter with injury, but prop Dillon Lewis is named amongst the replacements, and will be looking to extend his perfect winning streak in the red jersey.

Alun Wyn Jones is reinstated as captain, and is set to win his 123rd international cap.

Dragons lock, and Cardiff Blues academy graduate, Cory Hill, will partner the skipper in the second row, making his first start of the campaign.
