All to play for as season reaches crescendo

First Team News | 5th April 2023

It’s all to play for at Cardiff as the 2022-23 season reaches its culmination in the coming weeks.

The Blue and Blacks are fighting on two fronts - the European Challenge Cup and for the Welsh Shield or even a place in the play-offs in the BKT United Rugby Championship.

Following last Saturday’s stunning victory over Sale Sharks, who sit second in the English Premiership, Cardiff travel to face Benetton Rugby in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup this Saturday (3pm BST).

Don’t forget we are showing the quarter-final on the big screen at Cardiff Arms Park.

Should Dai Young’s men advance they would be rewarded with a semi-final showdown with either RC Toulon (away) or Lyon (home).

You can see the full road to the final below.

In terms of the URC, there are two rounds of regular season rugby left with a trip to Connacht up next.

The Irish outfit are currently sixth in the Championship and are looking to confirm their place in the play-offs but just nine points separates sixth to the Ospreys in 12th position.

Cardiff are currently 10th, on 39 points, and could reach the play-offs with just one win should other results go their way.

The Blue and Blacks also remain in the driving seat to secure the URC Welsh Shield, which was won by the Ospreys last season, but again it is going to go right down to the wire.

Ospreys face Edinburgh this weekend and the Welsh rivals go head-to-head at Judgement Day on April 22.
