Aled Davies is the latest Cardiff star to sign a new contract at the club following another impressive season in Blue & Black.
Davies, who missed the final weeks of the season with a hamstring injury, has put pen to paper on an extension to remain in the Welsh capital and is excited by the future.
The scrum-half arrived at the Arms Park from Saracens in 2024, and has gone on to make 30 appearances, earning widespread plaudits for his game controlling ability.
He said: “I’m really happy to be staying at Cardiff. I have absolutely loved the last two seasons and how we have grown as a group.
“Playing at the Arms Park is truly special and we have managed to make it a fortress this season with 10 wins from 1. That is something we can continue to build on.
“With so many of the group staying it is exciting to see what we can achieve next season. It’s going to be a great challenge being back in the Champions Cup and I’m looking forward to some brilliant European occasions at the Arms Park.”
Davies came through the Scarlets academy system and spent eight seasons in west Wales before joining the Ospreys.
He linked up with Saracens in 2020 and helped them to the English Premiership in 2023.
With a wealth of experience earned from the professional game and 20 Wales caps, Davies has become an important leader both on and off the pitch at Cardiff.
Corniel van Zyl said: “We are really pleased that Aled has agreed to stay at the Arms Park. He will be pivotal in helping us achieve our goals moving forward.
“He is such a brilliant professional, who brings so much to our environment, setting and driving standards.
“He is an all-round scrum-half, who can play fast or really control games with his accurate kicking. That kind of ability was really important as we edged to some narrow wins in the early part of the season.
“He obviously has an abundance of experience, which is hugely beneficial not just in terms of performance on the weekend, but each and every day in our environment, while he is also hugely competitive.”
