Cardiff Blues have today announced new naming rights for our iconic home - now to be known as "BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park" - following a ground-breaking deal with BT Sport.
BT Sport today (Monday) announced to the media at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park that it had agreed a new sponsorship deal across the four Welsh regions - the Blues, Scarlets, Ospreys and Dragons.
The multi-million pound agreement over three years is the largest joint sponsorship in the history of the four regions and signals an exciting future partnership ahead between the successful broadcaster and Welsh regional rugby.
The home of the Blues will now be known across the rugby world as the “BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park”.
The Cardiff Blues shirt sponsorship continues with Airbus Group, with BT Sport becoming kit sponsor to Cardiff Blues Women’s Rugby.
Richard Holland, Chief Executive at Blues, described the news as a ‘momentous day’ in the history of the region and Welsh rugby as a whole.
“It is an exciting day for Cardiff Blues and our supporters,” he said. “We have a collaborative agreement between the four regions with BT Sport that can only benefit the regions and the community game in Welsh rugby.
“BT Sport has put their name to our home venue while we have retained our historical roots. It is a momentous day for us and I’d like to thank those at Cardiff Athletic Club who have also been involved in negotiations. It was important to keep ‘Arms Park’ in the title and we are delighted to achieve that.
“We are naturally very pleased that BT Sport has recognised the importance of our home in world rugby and we now look forward to a long and successful association with them.
“We set several objectives at Cardiff Blues and one of those was to become a sustainable business. We have done that since our return to the now BT Sport Arms Park.
“We now need to be competitive on the pitch and take the region forward. We’re grateful to BT Sport for putting its faith in the four regions and we now look to exciting season of rugby in 2014/15.”
