The full United Rugby Championship fixture list for the 2026/27 season has now been released, confirming a major campaign ahead for the Blue & Blacks as the club prepares to celebrate its historic 150th season.
Cardiff Rugby kick off their sesquicentennial with a trip to face the Scarlets on Saturday, September 26, before hosting Zebre in the first home fixture of the season at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday, October 2.
Following constructive conversations with the URC, there is a more even spread of evening and afternoon fixtures with four matches kicking off at 3pm.
As ever, the Welsh derby matches will be the fixtures fans want to find out first. Following the opening day showdown at Parc y Scarlets, Cardiff host their West Wales rivals in the return fixture at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday, May 15, in a potentially crucial final-round encounter kicking off at 3pm.
Meetings with Ospreys are also spread across the season, beginning with a trip to St Helen’s on Saturday, October 31. The return derby in the capital takes place on Saturday, January 2, with Cardiff welcoming Ospreys to the Cardiff Arms Park for a 5.30pm kick-off during the busy festive schedule.
The traditional clashes with Dragons remain another standout feature of the calendar and are back-to-back. Cardiff host the Newport side on Saturday, December 19 at 3pm, before making the return journey to Rodney Parade for the Boxing Day derby on Saturday, December 26, which also kicks off at 3pm.
Speaking following the announcement, Managing Director Jamie Muir said: “It is great to have our fixtures for our 2026-27, sesquicentennial season and we are really pleased with the balance of kick-off times we have been given.
“It is always our preference to have a blend of Friday nights and Saturday afternoons and that balance hasn’t been right in recent seasons, particularly so in the current campaign.
“But we have taken that supporter feedback to the URC and have worked closely with them to ensure matches at the Arms Park are more accessible to all demographics.
“We are very grateful to the URC and also CF10, who have consistently voiced the concerns of supporters, and now look forward to a memorable season.
“Before that though, we have plenty to play for in 2025-26, with a play-off against the Stormers on the horizon, and that is our full focus. We are also working on a event to screen the fixtures, which we will confirm very soon.”
In total, Cardiff will play nine home fixtures at Cardiff Arms Park during the regular URC season, with the other visitors Ulster, Munster, Glasgow Warriors, the Hollywoodbets Sharks, and Vodacom Bulls.
Cardiff are also set to return to the Investec Champions Cup for the landmark season, with fixtures due to be confirmed in the summer.
