The kick off time of the match was voted for by Cardiff Blues supporters, allowing enough time for fans to watch the All Blues in action before heading into the city centre to watch the Wales v New Zealand match at 5.15pm. The Blues shuttle buses, which on this day will pick up at Westgate Street and return to Cardiff Central Bus Station, will be free to all.
The Blues will be looking to put in a big performance having lost back to back home games in the Magners League. They have not lost three in a row at home in the same season of the competition since 2004/05 and face a Glasgow team whose last four games in the League have all been won by the home team on the day. The Warriors’ only win outside Scotland in 2010 was 37-32 at Scarlets on 7 May.
Ticket prices for the match cost only £10 for adults. Student, seniors and junior tickets cost only £5.
Speaking ahead of the match, Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby, David Young, said, “The loss, and the manner of the loss against Ulster was hugely disappointing but we now have to dust ourselves off and face a Glasgow side, who, when they have got their full squad playing, are a very exciting team to watch, and a very difficult team to beat.”
“Similar to us they lose a lot of players to international duty and maybe they suffer from not having strength in depth in their squad that other teams have. It is a difficult time for them as well as us.”
“We can expect a tough game and they probably come here with confidence having seen our last two home results in the League against Ulster and Scarlets.”
“Glasgow probably feel it’s the right time to come to Cardiff and it’s up to our players to respond and fight for the full eighty minutes which is something I don’t think we’ve done all season.”
“Saturday’s result is massive for us. If we want to be in the top four at the end of the season we can’t afford to keep dropping points at home.”
In the backs Dan Fish comes in at Fullback, in place of Chris Czekaj, who moves to the wing, with Tom James being called up to the Wales team to face the All Blacks.
Xavier Rush has recovered from his neck injury at starts at Number 8 with Andries Pretorius starting at blindside and Molitika at openside.
Michael Paterson moves to the second row in place of the injured James Down. Tom Rowlands the Glamorgan Wanderers scrum half is on the bench along with Blues Academy player Owen Williams.
