Robin Sowden-Taylor is a product of Cardiff Youth and under-21s and was earmarked for representative honours at an early age. He played senior sevens for Wales at the age of 18 and also toured Japan with the full Wales squad in 2001. On tour he represented Wales XV against Suntory and the Pacific Barbarians. Robin is also a vital member of the Wales under-21 squad, playing in the World Cup tournaments of 2002 and 2003. Previously he played in the FIRA (under-19) World Cup in Chile. In 2002-03 he played 19 games for the Cardiff senior side and was outstanding in the Cardiff under-21 team that won the Welsh Cup. Robin won his first Wales cap in the win over Italy in 2005 as part of the squadthat won the Grand Slam that year.
