Cardiff Rugby 25 - 14 Bath Rugby
HT 10-7
Fri 10 September 19:15 Cardiff Arms Park Friendly

Couple of big hits force Bath to try the spectacular. Clark looks for a chip behind, but it goes dead. The goal-line drop out catches the visitors napping and within a few seconds Cardiff now have a penalty on halfway. 25-14

Priestland and Amos come off to a great reception, with Matthew Morgan and Jason Tovey coming on to round off the replacements for the evening. 25-14

Halaholo looking sharp and this time his long pass finds Garyn Smith in a bit of space. The replacement centre hacks ahead, and Lane wins the footrace. However, his grubber ahead just trickles into touch in the Bath 22. 25-14

Ellis Bevan and Garyn Smith replace Lloyd Williams and Garyn Smith as we're into the final 15 here at CAP. Meanwhile Olly Robinson does Olly Robinson things and wins the turnover. 25-14

Ratti and Boyde replaced on the hour mark, with Robinson and Anstey coming off the bench. 25-14

TRY! Jenkins and Ratti truck up and Cardiff spot the mis-match down the blind. Halaholo sends it straight to Owen Lane who dives in at the corner! He definitely enjoyed that one! 25-14

Another special moment on this memorable evening as Ellis Jenkins comes on to a warm CAP welcome. He replaces Rory Thornton as Cardiff bring play back to the 22m line. 20-14

TRY! And that's the beauty the crowd have been waiting for. Priestland pulls it back to Lee-Lo who combines wonderfully with Amos on the one-two. The Samoan is over but unselfishly hands it to Lloyd Williams on a platter. 20-14

It's opening right up here as both sides make a couple of half breaks each in an enthralling phase of play. Halaholo's step and pass almost put Owen Lane away but he was well dealt with on the outside. 13-14

Penalty Goal

Rhys Priestland takes us back within a point with his eighth point of the evening as Dillon Lewis and Willis Halaholo are both introduced into the action. 14-13

Try (Opp.)

Bath with the first points of the half as they rumbles over under the sticks through England 7s international Richard de Carpentier. The conversion makes it 14-10

Kick Off

Kirby Myhill and Rhys Carre are both introduced at the break as Rhys Priestland gets us back underway. Bath also fielding a completely new XV. Ni'n ôl ar ôl yr egwyl - Carre a Myhill ymlaen ar yr hanner a tim cyfan newydd I Bath! 10-7

Half Time

Lloyd Williams this time doing the damage in defence, picking out Ollie Fox from the base of a scrum and dragging him backwards. Bath retreat and eventually knock on to bring the half to an end. 10-7

Great line-speed from Priestland and Lee-Lo to put pressure on Joseph. He ships wide and the ball is dislodged, but referee Evans whistles as it came off the Samoan centre. 10-7

Penalty Goal

Priestland strikes a long range effort from just in front of the halfway line to edge Cardiff ahead. Superb strike from the playmaker as half time appraoches. 10-7

Excellent kick from Lloyd Williams off his right to clear the lines and bring play up to the halfway line. 7-7

Slight pause here as Owen Lane receives treatment. He returns supporting a bandage to match Rhys Priestland's look. I wonder if this will catch on... 7-7

Lloyd Williams gets a hand on Cipriani's clearance and Lane counters back. He brings play back to the 22m line and Priestland dinks behind to pin Bath back. They over-throw at the line to present a chance but manage to withstand the pressure. Hosts knocking on the door!

Priestland, Lloyd Williams and Jason Harries all making dents in the Bath defence to put the home side on the front foot and it's enough to earn the penalty. Priestland puts us in the corner. 7-7

Boyde and Llewellyn peel off a driving line-out and it's the former who trucks it up. Cardiff back within a couple of meters but Bath win a penalty after the hosts are penalised for going off their feet. 7-7

Llewellyn carries causing problems for the Bath defence. While the ball is spilled, Rory Thornton chips in with a crucial tackle to prevent Bath from breaking clear. 7-7

Try (Opp.)

Bath reply instantly to level things up as Beno Obano powers over. No mistakes from Cipriani to add the extras. 7-7

Penalty after penalty conceded by the visitors as Cardiff turn on the screw. The pressure finally tells as big James Ratti bundles over from close range. Priestland adds the extras! 7-0

First real opportunity of the game drops to the home side as a clinical attack sees them right up to the try line. The ball reaches Lane on the wing, who manages to offload to a Bath player as he runs out of space resulting in a home line-out 5 meters out. 0-0

There were some late changes to the matchday squad, with Alun Lawrence replacing Josh Turnbull at six and Lloyd Williams named skipper. Olly Robinson and Rhys Anstey come onto the bench, with Shane Lewis-Hughes also out. 0-0
