Garyn Smith came through the ranks at Pontypridd juniors and youth, following in the footsteps of both father, Steve, and grandfather, Joe, who also represented the Sardis Road-club.
After graduating through the Cardiff academy, the Wales under-20 international made his senior debut for the region in 2014, and scored his first try against Zebre, later in the same campaign.
The centre played a key role in the 2018 Challenge Cup final, despite playing out of position, on the wing. He won the penalty which allowed Gareth Anscombe to strike the match-winning points in the dying moments of the game.
The academy product surpassed 100 appearances for the club during the 2020/21 campaign.
