Cardiff Blues Hooker, Gareth Williams, speaks of his aims for the season and coming back from injury at the Vale of Glamorgan Show

"It's been great to be at the Vale Show and meeting the fans. We had a great turn out and I thought the queue was never ending signing autographs. It shows the support we have which is brilliant."

"We had a great season again last year lifting the Amlin Cup, unfortunately I got a bit of injury in January in my left arm and neck, but I wanted to carry on playing as the team was doing so well."

"After the final I had to go in for two operations. I had the neck operation first and fifteen days later I hade the shoulder repaired."

"The physio is going well and I hope to be back in October. It was good to have the operations in the summer as I won't miss too much of the season."

"I've always had a good competition with Rhys Thomas at Hooker over the last seven seasons and I think it really brings the best out of the both of us."

"We've also got a couple of good youngsters coming through, who obviously want to play, so it's going to be tough getting back, but I just want to be back on the pitch."

Speaking of his aims for the season, Williams said,

"We want to win the Magners League this season, that's our first aim, and the Heineken Cup is the other trophy we haven't won, so throughout the squad that is something we all want to target."

"We came second a couple of times a few seasons ago and slipped off it a bit last year, so it's one thing we definitely want to win."

"I don't think there are any easy groups in the Heineken Cup and it really is a case of each game at a time. It's a massive tournament and all the players lift their game for it, so we really have to go for it again this year."
