Backs Coach Paul John has demanded Cardiff Blues travel to Italy with the 'right attitude' when they resume Guinness PRO12 action on Saturday afternoon.
Cardiff Blues jet overseas to face Benetton Treviso at Stadio Monigo (kick-off 1.30pm local time) as they look to maintain the recent good run of league form.
Danny Wilson’s men have won their last four Guinness PRO12 fixtures and are aiming for five successive victories for the first time since 2010.
However, they must reverse recent poor form against Treviso having not won in the last three visits.
And after the manner of defeat to Zebre earlier this season on Italian soil, John insists Treviso – yet to win this season – will not be underestimated in any way.
“It’s a massive game for us,” said John. “We’ve had a good run in the Guinness PRO12 and now we go to Italy and it’s a huge game for us to keep momentum going.
“Treviso away has not been very successful for us the last few years. We have got to realise how hard this game is going to be and be full switched on.
“We have to go out there with the right attitude. We can’t underestimate them; we can’t afford to do that.
"That’s been the driver for training this week – we have to perform in difficult places where we have found it difficult in the past.
“If we want to continue in the direction we are going in we have to produce. Both teams will be missing players to the internationals, but we have just got to look after ourselves and prepare as best as we can.”
John revealed a number of players were back in contention for the fixture while they would wait for any players being released from international duty before finalising the team.
“The boys are refreshed and in many ways we wish we could have carried on and not had a week off having got on a bit of a run,” he added.
“We’ve come back in this week fully focussed and we have players like Sam Hobbs back now in contention. We will wait and see if any players come back to us from Wales.”
